Friday,

Jennah Barry, mezzo
Edward Franko, tenor
with
William Shookhoff (of Toronto's Phantom of
the Opera) on the piano
Broadway,
Our Way, is an evening of musical theatre, with four extraordinary
performers. Lunenburg soprano Mary Knickle's Broadway roots
spring from the years she spent studying in New York City.
Among her lead roles is the role of Sally Bowles in Cabaret
and she also appeared in Neptune Theatre's production of Evita.
Tenor Edward Franko is an established opera and cabaret performer
from Toronto. Jennah Barry is an award-winning 17 year old
Mahone Bay resident, with an extraordinary voice and stage
presence, and accompanist William Shookhoff, a native New
Yorker, brings over 30 years experience to the show, including
his work as conductor of Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables
in Toronto and on tour.
The evening features numbers from classic Broadway shows,
including My Fair Lady, Evita, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story,
Oklahoma, A Chorus Line, Jesus Christ Superstar and Chicago.
"I think we've picked a great mix of music" says
Knickle, "to appeal to a wider audience. There really
is somethiing for everyone in this show, from solos to duets
to ensembles, and from very moving to downright hilarious!"
Performances of Broadway, Our Way are 8 pm on June 22 at the
Osprey Theatre in Shelburne and June 24 at the Pearl Theatre
in Lunenburg. Tickets are $15 each. Tickets for Shelburne
can be purchased in advance at the Whirligig Bookstore. Tickets
for Lunenburg can be purchased in advance at Fulton's in Lunenburg,
Kinburn Pharmasave in Mahone Bay and Sagor's Bookstore in
Bridgewater. Tickets will also be available at the doors for
both performances.
